El Museo y Archivo Rubén Darío de la ciudad de León, Nicaragua, fue creado por medio del Decreto Ley No. 477 del 17 de marzo de 1960 y su posterior reforma por medio del Decreto Ley del 21 de enero de 1963, abriendo sus puertas el día 6 de febrero del año 1964. El Museo y Archivo Rubén Darío, fue creado con el principal objetivo de resguardar, proteger y divulgar, el Patrimonio Literario – Documental del Poeta Rubén Darío (1867-1916), Líder del Modernismo, movimiento literario surgido en América a finales del Siglo XIX.
